Tapeman Strikes Again!!!

This is what that mysterious temp post was about for the few of you that saw it for the whole 5 min it was up. I had the chance to help make something out of duct tape and cardboard so I could not pass up the chance. And I have pictures of the whole thing. :D

First we started with the helmet (we were making a full samurai suit of armour)

And finally we ended up with something like this

Then it was onto the main body of the armour, I had a pretty sweet idea of the sholder and leg covers and I think they turned out pretty good.

We spent about 4 hours the first night getting everything to look right and finished at around midnight. The next day we got ahold of some colored duct tape from a friend at the local climbing gym so then we started to decorate the armor.

The final product looked something like this...

However she was not alone it this whole fiasco, others were out there plotting to make armour better than ours... they failed... miserably. Troy had the next best but it still could not hold a candle to this masterpiece.

We did our best to keep them contained to the chruch but they broke out with their very sharp cardboard swords and made it to the local convenience store. I got several papercuts trying to keep them in the building... doctor says Ill be ok in a few weeks.

So theres my story... I wasnt actually there... but it sounded fun.

You did an awesome job Dave, it looks like something right out of 'The Last Samurai'.

This was for youth group at the chruch... they were having a braveheart night. Now I know a samurai was not in braveheart, but it was more of a make a suit of armour and show up in it. Then they did some games and that kind of thing. I was only there for the making not the games part. It was voted the best one there(kind of), so it was worth it.

There wasn't actually a vote, but Troy thought mine was better than his, and he was the only other person that looked like he devoted a number of hours into the making of the costume.

In the last mass battle, I came in 3rd. :)
I lost to Troy and Glen (of course) but not Andrew! I killed Andrew, made Glen a "stump" and took out one of Troy's arms and legs.
