On-call...

So this week I am on-call... and oh the joy of it all. Basically Interior Health has a rotation where one field tech gets one week where they cover all of IHA during the times when the Help desk is not available. It works out to be about 2 weeks a year so its not bad. However you can get called at any time during the night. So far I have not had any past 12am but I did get one at 6:30 am on Saturday... that wasn't so much fun. :P

Other than that there really hasn't been to much excitement going on in the life of Dave. Still getting used to being engaged and its got to the point where you start messing with people. Like tell them there is nothing new and then just bring it up in passing and see if they notice. Great way to check if people are actually listening to you. :D Oh and to the question everyone asks, they date has not been set but I think it has been narrowed down quite a bit. Ill keep you all posted on that department.

Alisha had her orchestra concert last night and wouldn't you know it one of the songs they were playing was "The wedding march". So the conductor, who is Lish's long time violin teacher dedicated the song to her and made her stand up. It was great. Mostly because she hates being in the spotlight, she handled it really well.

Alright I should get to bed and try and get some sleep before this pager wakes me up again. Later!

Haha!

Welcome to the wonderful world of being on call. What you need to do is outsource your after hours work so that you only cover days. The way my on call works now is that I am Primary or Secondary on call every six weeks, they stager it so that its every three weeks that I am "on call". However, I am only on call from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM CST; someone in India covers from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. It's A LOT better than being on call 24 hours a day as I've had my fair share of early morning/middle of the night calls.

I've always liked the idea of the groom walking down the aisle to "The Imperial March" but perhaps that would be a little much. smiley

...would Alisha wear the white robes and round buns at the side of her hear? And Dave with a light saber??
