This weekend Lish and I took a top rope course at the Skaha Bluffs in Penticton. It was a one day course on how to top rope and we were really lucky we got the Director of the school to ourselves for the day. Russ Turner has been climbing for 30+ years and it really showed. Top ropeing is where you hike to the top of a cliff (the easy way) and put your anchors down and then drop your rope from there. The other way is to lead climb and thats where you rock climb your way up to the top anchor with the rope in tow. With top rope you are limited to climbs where you can easliy access the top of the climbs where lead climbing you can do anywhere.
It was great fun and I highly reccomend it to anyone who in interested in climbing in the great outdoors. Next summer we plan on taking the lead climbing course... should prove to be quite exciting.
Here are some pictures we took along the way. Im going to try something with this... hopefully it will work.
Great pictures, saved them in a file. We're off today, have a good week!
