Future Plans
OK for those of you who have not been around lately here is whats going on in Daves life.
I am planning on going to UCC (the university in Kamloops… which is changing to Thompson Rivers University this spring) next year to take an engineering course. They have a transfer program where you take one year here in Kamloops and then transfer down to UBC and do a Co-Op program for the next three years down there. This is good for me because one I hate school so I would only have to handle one year of hard school and the rest is half work and half class. Second because UCC is still very cheap to attend, only about 4,000 per year for tuition so the price is right. This is one reason for the new car… because I want a car that I can rely on for the next while so I can concentrate on school.
So registration is on Friday and I am planning on being first in line to sign up for next year. Sooo wish me luck and hopefully things will work out!

Behind door #3…. A NEW CAR!!!
Well today I drove home in a new car!! Well not a new new car but its new to me. Its a 2000 cavalier with 50k on it… for now but that will but much more soon. I got a pretty good deal on it, but mostly I just wanted something that would not give me much problems for a while so I could concentrate on school more. So for the next year my two main concerns will me paying off my car and saving up for school.
Now lets have a moment of silence for my old car… the jetta. Wait a minute I hated that car, make all the noise you want! Just glad to be rid of the piece of…. you know… *ahem*…. nuff said. However I did have it for 4 years and I never had to do anything major to it like the engine or trany… even though it could have used both of those.
So I am happy to have my new car and hopefully it will treat me better than the last one. I think this one needs a name… any suggestions on a name for my new car? And no Daniel I am not going to name it Tiffany.
Her is a picture of it:

An update
Well some good and some bad I guess. The good is that I got a new cell phone, my old phone was at the end of the contract so I got an upgrade. I like it! Its a flip camera phone and I have been going a bit nutz with taking pictures since my first 3 months are free uploads of the pictures. They upload to a website on rogers.com and it comes with some cool software built in that changes the pics into a cartoon image or a line drawing. Pretty good for an online service. If I get any good ones I will post them online… but its max rez is 640×480… so not that great.
The bad news is that my car is dieing… slowly… but not as slowly as I would like. Lets see whats wrong with it now… ummm its burning oil, has a power out issue if I don’t use high octane gas, oil light comes on with a buzzer if my rpm’s are between 2,200 and 2,500… it has no nob on the shifter, cruise doesn’t work neither does the AC… you can smell gas after you have driven it for a few min… did I mention the cloud of blue smoke it leaves behind at intersections… I think there is a small group of Greenpeace that has a hit out on me. Oh but the body is in great shape. So if anyone is interested there is a 92 Jetta automatic with a few minor issues that is for sale… $5,000 OBO… did I mention the or best offer part?
So needless to say I am going car shopping over the next while and we will see what I come across. I don’t think I will have enough to get my dream truck but I guess we will see. (in case you don’t know my dream truck is a Toyota 4×4 v6 extended cab…. mmmmm good)
Its late and I probably should go to work tomorrow. Ill try to blog more I swear!

The Dell saga continues
Well after being ticked enough at my laptop for its poor performance, I once again phoned dell. Just to recap, my laptop over the summer started to overheat and it shut down on me and ever since it has not preformed very well at anything. So I phoned Dell and they sent me a new MoBo (motherboard) RAM, CPU and heat sink. However when the parts got here 2 of them were wrong. They send a 2.6GHZ processor instead of the 3.0GHZ and only sent one stick of ram instead of 2. So I replaced what parts I could (motherboard and heat sink) and it didn’t fix the problem. So I thought well ill just phone dell back and get them to send out the correct parts. It took 2 hours on the phone with the tech and his supervisor to get them to resend out the correct parts. So I replaced the CPU with the correct one and got 2 new sticks of RAM…. however this still did not correct the problem. Sooooo once again it was back to Dell with me, now what they are going to do is ship the whole thing to Toronto and have a look at it for themselves. The catch, the only part they have not replaced on my laptop is the hard drive… and I have to take that and the battery out before I ship it to them. So if I get it back and it does the same thing…. there will be Jupes to pay.
Lets just say that things are not going to be very happy in Dell land if things are not fixed. Not happy at all.

By Popular Demand… The PNE
It was so long ago… Ill see what I can remember. Ummm we drove down, went on some rides and came back… there was some other stuff in-between but its all kind of blurry.
Seriously, Lish, Haliee and I all drove down to meet up at Heathers house. These were 3 of the 4 women that joined me for the West Ed trip. So a good time was bound to happen. Heather wanted to take us to this place where you can ride a mechanical bull but we got there a little late so there was a huge line. We waited until Heathers boyfriend showed up and he got us in, after a bit of convincing. The bull was only active until about 11 o?clock so I stayed back with Hailee while Heather and Lish had a go. They both did pretty well but didn?t make it far enough to not get hackled by the crowd. After that we went back to Heathers house and hung out for a while and finally went to bed.
We woke up to Heather making corn beef hash for all of us, and I have to admit it was quite good. After we got ready (translation: After the girls were ready hours later) we headed off to the PNE. Its basically a huge fair in Vancouver, with rides, attractions, and carnies…. oooohhhh the carnies. If any of you ever get a chance to go you will have to do the wooden coaster… very good. Saw the “Super Dogs” … its where the dogs run through all the hoops and stuff… man that little one was fast. Stopped even quicker when it hit one of those jumps wrong. *Smack* After some mouth-to-mouth it finally came to. You ever looked at a small dog and had the uncontrollable urge to make a field goal with it? Or is it just me.
At the end of the night they had a huge show because it was the last week of the PNE. There was lots of fire…. so it was good. We headed home when it closed at 11:30 and watched a movie at Heathers. We woke up and headed back to Kamloops fairly early since Lish needed to be home. So all in all I give the weekend a “See it in a theatre/Buy it on DVD” rating… (that?s a quote from Chris’s blog)…. it means I had a good time.
