Quick post for the sleepless night.

Ok if you are bored and don’t know what to do and think you have seen all there is to see on the Internet? Use stumble upon for Firefox. Its an add-on to the browser, you log in put in your likes and interests and it searches the web for sites that might interest you. All you do is hit a button and it takes you to a random site that is made for you! Try it, you will like it.

So in my random stumbling I came across this page… Now a lot of my friends being techs know about all the …. not computer savvy people the phone us up all the time. But what about when a not computer savvy person phones tech support and gets a moron on the other side? Here is a whole page dedicated to just that. Go here and laugh.

(a clip from the site)

Cut from an email support log:

This morning I tried to sign on and for a purple screen. After several tried with different browsers then I got the message you were down. I tried to exit. It went to a background with huge pixels and stuck. I mean no amount of rebooting would get rid of it. Finally I had to reset my wallpaper.

Well, its not 2500… I just dont think I can post that much.

Well I was trying to think of what to post about since I am getting flack for not posting that much. But this is my 200th post on this site, and I would say thats not to bad for how often I post. Although I think my first 100 was made in the first few months of creating it. Its easier to talk about stuff when you are away from everyone you know. Maybe I should go back on the road, then I would have nothing better to do than post on my blog… sound good? Chris what you doing next year? :P

don’t know if I have told you all this but the computer shop where I work is down by one person as of last week. He got a spot on the oil rigs in Alberta, and in a 5 person shop when one guy leaves its really noticed. I have taken most of his duties like keeping up the website and coming up with new ideas for the shop. On top of that Several businesses are starting to rely on my services so it keeps me out on the town most of the day. Things are really good though, I like my work and the customers seem to like me… for some reason. I have just wanted to come home and relax while I am here so I have not posted as much lately.

As for the spiders… as you may well know me and spiders do not get along all so good. Especially the big harry ones that can pick you up and body slam you with out even breaking a sweat. Me and Lish were trying to figure out what kind of spider they were and have been doing some research on the subject. It just so happens that I worked on someones computer that is a professor at the University in town and he told me that they were in fact wolf spiders. They look something like this and you can read about them here.
My general rule is if it doesn’t invade my space (my room or within squashing distance) then its fine. Or if it doesn’t surprise me then its usually fine, I will do my best to avoid them and their certain death. However if one charges me… its life is forfeit.

So there you go. Enjoy, have a good day and please come again.

Im back… I think. :P

I have been kind of taking a break from as much as possible after one of the most stressful couple of weeks of my life. Things are starting to settle back down but there are still things on the go, but thats just life, never stops for anyone.
As I am sure you all know I didn’t take the job in Dryden, for a lot of reasons which I wont get into here. One of the things that made it so hard was that Chris and Pasi really did a lot to get me the position and I ended up turning it down. With everything that was happening and after weighing all the pros and cons I decided that for now this is the best place for me.
The past few days have been not so fun. I was playing on the Trampoline with the kids and threw my back out. Man I’m getting old. Usually it only lasts a day or two then its better but this seems to be hanging around a bit longer.

So there seems to be a lot of talk about two budding artists and their versions of a particular photograph. Both paintings are truly amazing and I think would make a very good Christmas present to the writer of this blog. If you want to see them you can go to Chris’s Blog and have a look. Now in both paintings however something was missing that Chris pointed out… so I made a version for him. ;) With my moms permission of course. It was a very bad cut and paste job… its supposed to look obvious… really.
Ill get back to posting more often here so you can start checking again.

Oh look September… what do you know.

So it?s been a while since my last post. Lots has been going on in the life of Straley.

First off I had a job interview on the 31 for a job with a school district is some far off land. Did the interview via video conference (a first for me) to save me the 30 odd hour drive. The interview went pretty well Del seems like a really nice guy and seemed to like what I had for background. The only bad part was when he asked me how much experience I have had with active directory and I said not much. (most of their network uses active directory) I am still getting emailed questions so I guess they are still interested. I’ll keep you posted.

Went to the PNE this weekend as I usually do, kind of a last min trip though. Didn’t even know I was going until the night before, so don’t get mad for not being invited Daniel. :P The wooden roller coaster there is still one of the best I have been on. You just have to be sitting on the back car so you are going fastest over the bumps. Good stuff.

What else… Oh yah I downloaded over 9GB of “How to speak Japanese” and I am going through that and quite enjoying it. Better than spending $300 on a first year Japanese course at the University. Maybe one day I will be able to watch my anime without the subtitles. Yes, once again my true geekiness comes shinning through.

Speaking of University, since I might not be moving I am going to be trying to get more of my classes upgraded this year. I am going to try and get the worst out of the way first… English… oh how I hate English. So there is a first year English course that would fit into my work schedule this semester so I am going to be taking that. Its also another reason why I think I would like the engineering course at the University. (Only one English class needed! :D ) Then next semester I will have to do Physics and Chem… then Ill be done with the upgrading! The class was supposed to start today but the schedule at work didn?t really fit today so I will have to go to the Thursday one for my first day. (is it just me or was that a really confusing sentence?)

Ok well I don?t have much else to say so I should get going. Hope you all are doing well and Ill talk to you later!

Oh and Mr. Steve Straley I would love to hear more about the different lines of Straley that you were talking about. The research that my family has done into the name of straley revealed something different so if you wouldn?t mind emailing me some more info. that would be great!
