We missed ya Amy!

So came home to a odd situation this weekend. Came home to a virtually empty house, later found out that everyone was at the hospital. My sister Amy was in surgery. Apparently she had a sore stomach this week that just kept getting worse and later found out that it was her appendix. She went under to get the problem part removed (napa was all out of replacements) and was in recovery a short while later. That night she was wondering if she would be going home that night and if she would still be playing on the church worship team that Sunday. Sunday she was still in the hospital and the doctor telling her that her appendix burst before they could get it out. So now she is dealing with the infection… and from last I heard she is home since she was getting no sleep in the very crowded hospital. I’m not in Kamloops so I am not sure how she is doing now… but I have seen her on msn so not to bad. :P

As for the apartment…. *drum roll* I GOT IT!!! I was approved today and will be moving in on Saturday. Hopefully someone will bring a digital camera so I will have some pictures of the area. And the new place to be in Vernon.

Sweet day.

Ok well I have been on the apartment warpath for the past couple of days. And up until yesterday I was not doing very well… what I was finding was well… below par shall we say. One of the places I wanted to look at didn’t answer my calls because it was after hours. So I spent the day looking at the other options and found no where I would want to live.
This morning I phoned back the good looking place and made an appointment to check the place out tonight. Turns out they had 2, 1 bedroom apartments available, and the only reason why they were not taken or sold was because they were not going to be in the paper until next week. (I lucked out) The first place she showed me was on the third floor and had a great view of the city. However the room had not been renovated in quite some time and didn’t look that nice. The room was really big, with a den, kitchen, big bedroom, storage, ect. So we went to the next apartment which was on the second floor and on the other side of the building. The building is on a hill so one faces the city and the other faces the hill. So I wasn’t expecting much out of the second place with the “hill” view. However, this one was just renovated with a new kitchen, freshly painted, carpets, and a dishwasher! The apartment is on the corner so it also had a wrap-around balcony so you could still see the city lights from there. Plus it was a little more private, which I like. The place was just as big, I am going to have a hard time finding enough furniture to fill all the space. :P
So I put in my application, they will have an answer for me as of tomorrow and noon… or so I am told. And if I get it I will be moving out on Saturday. Oh my.

What a first day…

Well things got off to a shaky start. As of last night I wasn’t really in that good of a mood. First off the hotel I am staying at… well lets just say it reminds me of Ear Falls. The “Non Smoking” room smells like smoke… and as soon as I booted my computer, found out that the OS needed to be reinstalled. So after spending an hour reinstalling windows on my computer found out that my Internet connection was barely there (wireless) and kept cutting out. Just wasn’t having a good night.

I went to work this morning expecting that I was going to be spending the first week on the help desk support team. Then for the next month or so be paired up with a tech in the area. After my training time I would then be able to apply for one of the openings in the area. Wasn’t to excited about the week on the help desk but its only a week.

So I got there and was introduced to Dave (one of my managers) who then took me to the help desk area where I was paired up with Dave the help desk guy (one of about 10 people on the help desk). Later I met a couple other Dave’s and at the end of the day had a meeting of the Dave’s and talked about how original our parents were at naming us. :P First bonus I found out was that today was my only day on the help desk and I would just be listening in all day… didn’t have to take a single phone call. Second was that they want to put me in Vernon (the spot I wanted because its closer to Kamloops). And third that I will only be trained for the next week or two then I will be in Vernon. Oh and the hotel situation, well there is a nice one right next door that has continental breakfast, hot tub, and a couch (a COUCH!) in the room with kitchenette for not much more than what I am paying here. So I booked it for next week… since I already paid for my week here I will stick it out until then.

So things are looking pretty good at this point and tonight… needless to say, is better than last.
