Is it just me or is this just not right?
Title of the article I read today was this “Scientist Creates First Human-Sheep Chimera”. That’s right people have created a sheep that is 15% human and 85% sheep. Their goal is to create a sheep that has the organs of a human for transplant. ”Professor Esmail Zanjani, of the University of Nevada, has spent seven years and £5million perfecting the technique, which involves injecting adult human cells into a sheep’s fetus.” You can read the original story here.
Let me know what you think….

Has Hell Frozen Over??
Ok so apparently Microsoft now has the most secure operating system on the market. This report is out from Symantec who is ranking this on the amount of security threats that are found for an operating system and the amount of time it takes for the company to come out with a fix. Although I think it’s more based on the response to a known hole/problem than the number found. Here are a few quotes:
During this period, 39 vulnerabilities, 12 of which were ranked high priority or severe, were found in Microsoft Windows and the company took an average of 21 days to fix them. It’s an increase of the 22 vulnerabilities and 13-day turnaround time for the first half of 2006 but still bested the competition handily.
Red Hat Linux was the next-best performer, requiring an average of 58 days to address a total of 208 vulnerabilities. However, this was a significant increase in both problems and fix time over the first half of 2006, when there were 42 vulnerabilities in Red Hat and the average turnaround was 13 days.
Then there’s Mac OS X. Despite the latest TV ads ridiculing the security in Vista with a Matrix-like Agent playing the UAC in Vista, Apple (Quote) has nothing to brag about. Symantec found 43 vulnerabilities in Mac OS X and a 66 day turnaround on fixes. Fortunately, only one was high priority.
I was surprised to see how long it takes for people to come out with patches for known problems. I guess its testing time lest they make a fix that makes another hole.
The article is surprising to say the least.

Because I couldnt resist.
So was talking with a buddy of mine today and he has a theory about “Lost” and the true nature of why the people are stranded on the island. ***Warning this may spoil things for you if this is correct***
Names have been changed to protect the innocent; as such we will refer to my friend as “Ðüß”. Here is the theory: The island is Purgatory. All the islanders are actually dead and everything they are living out on the island is more or less to give them a second chance to see if they will go to Heaven or Hell. Basically if you do something bad (i.e.: kill someone) you are going to hell and then the Island turns on you. Here is some oh his reasoning.
“Charlie killed Ethan and that’s why the Island is trying to kill him” “Echo refused to apologize and make amends to the “island” (“You think I am your brother?”) So the island killed him.”
“The Spanish chick killed Hurley’s girlfriend and ended up being killed by Michael who was doing what the island wanted him to” “Michael and Walt went to heaven because they did what they were supposed to”
“Jack had a choice and did not kill the main guy so he was to go to heaven as well” He has more but you get the point. So I will let you debate over it and let me know what you think. I really have not watched the show since the 1st season so I really have no idea. Just thought it was a cool theory.

Dead Heroes?
So I hope that you are not particularly attached to any of the cast of heroes because they apparently might not have a very long shelf life. From a story I just read on the SCIFI network… “ Tim Kring, creator of NBC’s Heroes, revealed to SCI FI Wire that the first-season finale will comprise the last three episodes of the year, will bring all of the main characters together in New York—and will ultimately result in the death of one or more heroes.”
“The thing is, people knew fairly early on [that they might not make it through the season],” Kring said of the cast members. “Everybody, every actor that we’ve spoken to. I mean, … we’ve spoken about this idea, that on this show the story is king and everybody is in service of that story. It’s not a star vehicle. No, the show does not live or die by any one character. And so every actor should realize that at some point their ticket might come up. It’s both sad and exciting at the same time.”
The final episode will not air until May 23 and the next episode will not air until April 23… creepy as it is there will be a total of 23 episodes in the first season… I might be seeing a pattern here….

Its Here!!
After talking about it for more than a year I finally got my digital projector… holy big screen batman. To top it all off it has been a very busy week for Alisha and me so I have not really had much time to play with it or get it properly setup. Oh and did I mention that several people are coming over to watch a movie tonight? Yah so in a matter of two hours I have to get the proper wires, connectors and make things relatively good looking before everyone shows up tonight. The projector is an Optima EP1690 and it’s just as good as I was hoping it would be. The picture is a native 720p which isn’t the highest res out there but unless I wanted to spend Thousands more it was the best option. Only the highest end projectors do a full 1080p and they are currently going for 7-$8000. So I got my computer hooked up to it and there was little to no issues there, Vista just saw it as another monitor and it works like a charm. Tested it out with a 720p trailer for the movie “300″ and it looked great.
In other news, ski season is just about over… well I thought it was over and then I wake up to a fresh blanket of snow this morning and find that all the local hills got 10cm of fresh snow. I don’t think I will be able to make it out again, but it’s nice to think about. Another event is also happening this weekend, it will be my birthday on Sunday, and I will be a ripe old age of 28. Gasp. Short of the movie night tonight it’s going to be a pretty quite birthday since Alisha is working nights all weekend. I think we will be going out on Sunday and maybe catch 300 this weekend since I have not seen it yet and it’s getting awesome reviews. Maybe I will pull a Chris and give a review of it after I watch it… maybe not.
