Oh the Hype and very odd commercials
Ok, came across something quite odd today. Again its about that age old rivalry between Microsoft and Apple. You see something Apple and Steve jobs have always done very well, with a few exceptions, is creating hype and good press over just about anything that they put out on the market. Even when there are problems or the item in question doesn’t really live up to the hype you very rarely hear about it. Apple stock this week has been dropping like a rock (down almost 10 points in 3 days and still dropping) after Steve Jobs demonstrated 3 new products that Apple will be releasing is short order. The first is the iPhone which has been all over the tech pages for the past 6 months and pre-orders have been selling on Ebay for over 2 grand. For a CELL PHONE! However, this week reviews have been popping up all over the net showing all the possible problems this phone is going to have and its looking like a first generation iPod fiasco. The second item that was talked about is Apples next version of OSX which was supposed to be a Vista Killer OS. Again, however, it is being met with mixed reviews, even from mac only sites like macworld. Since Apple was so hush-hush about the new features of the new OS people were expecting some big things from this new release and instead it looks more like a facelift of OSX. Last is the previously mac only browser Safari, which one analyst said he found 10 holes in the browser in the first 5 minutes of using it. This is still a Beta release and bugs are to be expected, it just taints Apples extreme security image. Article.
On the other hand we have Microsoft which should really take some lessons on how to advertise from Apple. Today I saw some commercials for Microsoft’s response to the iPod called the Zune… they left me speechless. They were so bad, I can’t even describe to you what they are like. Oh its a Straley House.
So we got a house… you can read the whole story on Lish’s blog. We move in the weekend of July 13, and from that point forward… I will probably be in debt for the rest of my life…. oh joy. 
So we are moving to Kelowna BC and the house we got is the end unit of a 4 plex. We have a nice big back yard and I have already picked out a spot for the BBQ. Oh baby. The cool place about this is they are fully renoed units so it will be like new when we move in. Our current place has now become the box graveyard. Slowly more and more boxes are coming to reside at our place and more and more things are disappearing into them.
Lish and I have been really busy lately and I just have not had that much to talk about which is why there has been a lack of posts on the site. Plus Facebook is sucking up most of my time online these days… at that Desktop Tower defence I saw on Chris’s blog… Curse you Chris! Just kidding. Its a lot of fun and I have most of the guys on the helpdesk playing it now. Go here to check it out.
Lish and I are planning on going to the hot springs near Revelstoke BC next weekend. Going to camp for a few days and relax by the heated pools, should be a nice weekend. Well not much else to say on my end. Later.
