Sincerest Gratitude
Lish again. I should mention how grateful I am to Paula and Anita regarding their support on Friday night. It was really traumatizing for all four of us, but they followed the ambulance in a second vehicle so that we would have a way to get home once Dave was discharged. They wouldn’t let me drive because I kind of started freaking out when the paramedics said they were taking him to the hospital. Paula and Anita patiently waited with me at the hospital until 12:30 am when Dave was finally discharged and then drove us to where we left the car. Anita followed us home to make sure we were okay.
So thanks so much girls, it’s wonderful to have such great friends, and reassuring to know that there are still good people in this world.

Memory Loss and Hospital Fun!
Hey there loyal readers,
Lish here. I’m posting in lieu of Dave as the title suggests, he doesn’t remember the following event. On Friday evening, we went to Aikido as we normally do. We were planning on heading to Kamloops for turkey goodness after Aikido with the Get-a-Way van. After practice, we were talking outside with Paula and Anita. Four male teenagers (seventeen-ish) came walking through the parking lot and insulted us as they walked by. The insults I’d rather not repeat. Obviously, because they were insulting us, we looked at them. Heaven forbid! They had a problem with us looking at them so they ended up coming over and surrounding us. Paula tried to coax them into walking away and next thing you know, one of the guys sucker punched Dave. Dave staggered down to the ground and a bunch of blood started pouring out. The three girls (I think I yelled or screamed or something) moved forward towards the boys and Anita and I announced that we were calling 9-1-1. The cowards that they were ran off as I connected with the police. When I was on the phone I mentioned that there was quite a bit of blood pouring out of Dave’s mouth so the police also dispatched an ambulance. The police came, got the details, the ambulance came, checked Dave out. They patched up the hole he bit through his lip and announced that they were going to take him to the hospital ‘as a precaution’. Turns out that was a good thing because he ended up with a minor concussion and definitely needed stitches. And now to end this post on a funnier note, some of Dave’s many-times-repeated-over conversations at the hospital and temporarily forgotten memories:
Dave forgot:
- What day of the week it was
- How old he was (but he knew what year he was born in and what year it is now, he just couldn’t do the math)
- He went to Calgary for intensive training for a week
- My Uncle Jim is getting married next weekend
- My Aunt and Uncle moved to Paris, France
- His parents were in Washington for two months
- That we were married (haha just kidding)
Repeated phrases and conversations:
“I definitely have a concussion.” x40
“My sister’s a paramedic in Kamloops.” This was apparently repeated over and over in the ambulance on the way to KGH.
“I’ve had a concussion once before. They keep waking you up every hour. I hate that!” x40 Often said after his confirmation that he had a concussion.
“What happened? How many times have I asked you that already?” I counted. 30.
Lish: “Stop touching your cheek, you’ll tear the stitches.”
Dave: “I have stitches!?” *touches cheek*
My personal favourite:
Lish: “You got a tetnus shot.”
Dave: “You jerks! No I didn’t! My butt would be sore!” *wiggles butt*
Lish: “I’m not kidding. You got it in your shoulder.”
Dave: “Are you serious? Sweet!! I don’t remember!”
Paula took a short clip of Dave in the hospital that maybe I’ll try to get on here. Dave suggested a couple of times after she took the clip that someone should video tape him. He was happy to hear that we already had.
Anyway, we’ve both been better, but we’ll be okay.

Hot Springs and other stuff
So, its been a couple of weeks since I have posted. Not much has happened house wise, the plumber should be at the house today to finish up so we should be able to start drywalling downstairs.
The week in Calgary was a little intense but not as bad as I was expecting. After spending 6 days at the Calgary Airport I was more than ready to head home. Now I just have to take the test down in Vancouver and that is on the 24th, so wish me luck!
We also just came back from a weekend at the Nakusp Hot springs. We ended up going with Amanda Hutton and a few of her friends. It was a great weekend for the hot springs since it was raining all weekend, however it was not a good weekend for camping cause… well it was raining all weekend. Alisha and I were not too bad since we had the camper van, so we hardly noticed, but everyone else was in tents. The first night wasn’t too bad but the last night it was downpour all night. One of the girls ended up in our van because her sleeping bag got too wet. We got pictures of the tarp tent Ray and I made for all of us to take refuge under and I will try and get them posted this week.
