New Family Member!

Lish here. This is to announce that Dave and I got Renji a cute little playmate! We named her “Rukia” after this character from one of our favourite geeky animé shows. In the show, Rukia is really good friends with Renji, whom we named our other cat after. I’m hoping they’ll live up to their namesakes. Right now Renji likes to hiss at Rukia if she comes too close. However, he has gone up to her twice and smelled her without hissing. I think we’re making progress! Hopefully next week there’ll be a post with a picture of them cuddling on the couch. *fingers crossed*

We are back!

So we are back from our Vacation and we are quite glad to be home. Not that we didn’t have a good time, its just always nice to be in your own bed after a vacation.
We had a great time down in Vancouver, the Grandville island hotel was awesome as usual. However, this time we had the added bonus of being a quick water taxi away from Chris and Sheila. They now live just on the other side of the water from Grandville so we got to see them quite a bit. Then we headed off to the Island to visit with Alisha’s family. Spent most of our time in Nanaimo and hanging out with the Grandparents and with Alishas Aunt and Uncle.
Then, Washington. This involved radio controlled helicopters and airplanes… the helicopters survived the weekend… the plane on the other hand… still works but only because of a thick layer of packing tape I had put on it the day before. We got some good videos of said plane crashing into a strangers house, then getting stuck in her tree. It was good times. I am pretty sure a whirleybird was damaged in the chaos… but we didnt get a video of that.
We had forgotten Alishas camera so her mom graciously let us use her new one, so we took lots of pictures… then forgot to take them off before giving it back to her mom. So we will post the pictures once we get them back.

Choice… and Quantum physics.

So I bet you have never seen those put into one phrase before, this is the second thing that I was thinking about last night. Before you read any further (or if you are even going to read this post) you will need some back ground on the subject. These are two links that lay out the basic framework of what I have been thinking about. So watch (about 5 min each) and then continue reading the post…

Double Slit Experiment

The Tenth Dimension

Head full yet? Well its about to get worse. One of my favorite past times is reading everything I can get my hands on about quantum particles and the theories behind them. Those links lay it out in a very easy to understand manner.
So basically I have come up with a theory that electrons and protons are actually a 5th dimensional particle, it could be apart of higher ones but to behave the way it does it would have to be at least in the 5th dimension. Now from the second link the 5th dimension is one where every choice that is made is actually played out but in a different stream of the 4th dimension. If you were to come to a 4 way stop and had a choice on weather to turn left or right, according to the theory, there is a universe where you chose to go left and one where you chose to go right. Both of these choices and the millions of others are actually played out in these different time lines… or so the theory goes. But here is the rub, are the other dimensions just as real as the one we currently reside? Are there millions of Daves out there? I know scary thought.
Which brings me to the first link. As you saw in the dual slit experiment, electrons behave in a very odd way when not being observed, but once you look at them the behave just like you think they would. I believe that these particles are native to the 5th dimension. Basically once that electron is fired from the electron gun it takes every possible path until a choice is made, a) it is observed b) it hits something like the wall. You see until you look at the object you don’t really know which path it will take until its observed, then its path is confirmed and your time line is confirmed. If there is nothing to observe it the choice is not made until the last possible moment, when it hits the wall.
At this point, from the way I see it, is there is two possibilities. One, every reality is just as real as this one and there are millions of daves out there. Two, that there is one reality with infinite possibilities. Thats for you to decide…

This is where the pure science ends and you get into my belief, so take this as such. From what I believe there is a God, and for some time I have begone to think that choice is the one of the most powerful things God gave us from the start. The more I read, the more I learn, the more I realize just how deep that choice goes. From the garden of eden God game them everything but still gave them choice. He did not want mindless beings that would follow him because we were programed to do so. He wanted someone that would chose him because we wanted to. Oh and I would lean towards there being one reality with infinite possibilities… but thats just me. ;)

Does Evolution take more faith?

So I was up really late last night thinking… it happens from time to time and here is one things I was thinking about. I came up with a scenario, and I want to see what you think.

There is a house in the jungle, nothing fancy just a house. Now two little jungle buddies walk across this house and they has never seen one before. You see they come from a very advanced jungle group that is really advanced math, science, and physics but for whatever reason they still live in caves. There is no one in the house and no immediate sign that someone is there or ever was there. They have never seen a building built by man, everything they have used has been “built” by nature, caves and trees. They begin to wonder how this building could have ever come about by natural processes. Being well versed in natural phenomenon they work together and spend the next several years studding the house and surrounding area. After all this work they come up with a theory that explains how the house came about by chance. It is 100% possible, everything is sound and through test after test their theory holds up. They also find that in order for all these processes to take place, this house would have to be at least 3000 years old but even at that age the probability of everything happening just so is so slim its almost nonexistent. But thats ok there is only one house so the only proof they need is the house. It doesn’t matter that the odds are so low, it only needed to happen once.
One of the little buddies takes a step back and starts to look at the big picture of the house starts seeing the design, the structure, and begins to think that someone might have actually built this house. Huge argument ensues and the guys end up going their different ways. ( I don’t know I had to end it somehow :P )

Now looking at that story, I am left with a couple of questions. Which theory required more faith? Also all that work and science that went into a theory that seems correct but it ultimately wrong… I’m not sure where to go with that one. Also how does one prove one way or the other since neither was there when it was built. One looks at the house and sees a design of a intelligent builder, where the other just sees a collection of boards and nails.
So that was one thing that I was thinking about last night. Ill put the other into another post.
