Awesome Parents
Alisha and I were discussing how nice it is to have parents that are so willing to drop everything for a few days and help out their kids who would otherwise be in way over their heads.
My parents have been down to our place several times in the past year helping us out with aspects of home renovations that I would have never been brave enough to try on my own. But now after a year of doing just about everything possible to a house I feel like I could tackle just about anything that might go wrong. With varying degrees of success…
Alishas parents have also been down numerous times helping out with said renos, doing amazing painting jobs and being kind enough to let us use their trailer to take load after load to the dump.
We are almost done the renos and by the end of next month will have nothing left to do but the trim and molding, which can be a big job but not something that scares me too much.
We spent the last week doing the electrical for the ensuite and for the stairs… since an entire wall disappeared. It looks so much more open and bright in that part of the house now, its kind of shocking.
Hailee’s mom was here this week and she wanted to see everything that we had done to the house and it was a real eye opener going through all the pictures and videos again. Seeing once again the kind of craziness we lived through the first few weeks we moved in. I am surprised Alisha is still married to me after putting her through that.
All in all it has been a great experience and I would actually do it again, but not if we have to live in the place we were renovating… that was a little much. Anyway there are a few more pictures added today with what the stairway looks like now and some climbing pictures for a few weeks ago. Enjoy!

More House and some Rock Climbing.
So a couple of weekends ago Lish and I and some friends here went rock climbing in Kelowna. We haven’t been out much this year but it was good to get out door climbing again after being cooped up in the indoor gym all winter. Lish and I are no strangers to outdoor climbing but this time was something different all together. We got to the site in the afternoon so the rock face wouldn’t be as hot as it can be in mid day. However, what we weren’t counting on was the weather. We knew there was a chance of “light showers” that day but figured they would be minor dribbles and nothing to worry about. We had set a climb and most of us had had a run and it was Lish’s turn to go up, she got to the top and it started to sprinkle. Alisha didn’t have the equipment to take down the line so I would have to go back up after her to take everything down. As she was coming down it started to rain a bit harder. We quickly swapped placed and I began my quick climb up the rock face. Half way up the climb it started to absolutely pour. Everything was wet and slick, and was making my “quick trip” a little harder. Just when I was thinking it couldn’t get any worse… hail. I was 3/4 of the way up a 100FT climb and I was being hailed on after being soaked to the bone. I was trying to hang onto the rock while my body temp dropped. I got to the top and started taking down the anchoring equipment. I was about to begin my decent and it turns out the guy next to me couldnt quite remember how to setup an anchor… (refer to pictures) so I stayed up top and walked him through everything. All in all it was an interesting day.

Update!
We have been doing a lot on the house in the past couple of months. Our attention turned to outside once the weather wormed up. We now have a flower garden, a vegie garden, and more dandelions than you can shake a stick at. I have also had to give myself a crash course on home irrigation since there was quite a few issues with the existing system. I have had to patch/add/replace quite a few times in the past while, but the system is working pretty good now.
Alisha and I just finished the last room downstairs so we have a full basement again. And we started the demo on the stair case so hopefully the house will be pretty much complete in the next couple of weeks.
After that we will be trying to get some vinyl siding to finish off the house, since there is still sections of the exterior that has plywood exposed. So much to do…
I have some pictures of the stair case as it stands right now and I will get some pictures of our yard with the flowers and our changes.
As for our non-house related stuff… things are going really well with us. Hailee is a welcome addition to our house and the room-mate thing seems to be working out really well. Hailee is going for her nursing exam this week and will hopefully be back on Saturday a full RN.
Alisha is loving her new position as a Pharmacy analyst (someone who looks after the software used by pharmacist’s use in Interior Health). Its a much more challenging position than her last job, so its been a welcome change.
As for me I am still working as a Network Admin for the health authority and things are still going well. I dont know if I posted that I successfully passed my CCNA certification, I have yet to decide on if I want to take my cisco cert to the next level or not.
Anyway more pictures coming. Hope you are all doing well.
