Wow… Im 30… weird.
So its almost been a month since my last post but I figured I should post something today. Its an odd feeling, some people think its old and others I have talked to can’t even remember their 30th birthday. I have never been one to get all crazy about getting old but I have to admit, this one gave me pause.
On another note for my birthday I will be hosting the second annual Straley LAN party on Saturday. My house will be turned into geek central and for at least 24 hours there will be nothing but computers and games at our place. We have about 8 people so far that will be showing up so we will find places for everyone. Ill take pictures and post them. Last year we had it at our old place which was much smaller, but we had room for everyone.
As for the house we are down to 2 rooms left to complete. The downstairs bedroom and the en suite bathroom upstairs. They were the least critical so they will wait until probably next month before they get done. Other than that its quite nice living in a mostly finished house again, its really feeling like home now.
One thing I have to mention is something my wife has been cooking up in the back room for the past 2 weeks. I have no idea what it is but she has spent many hours in there over the past while and she still isn’t done. I have controlled myself and I have not peeked in to see what she is building, but from other peoples reaction its pretty cool. I will take some pictures of that too and post them with the LAN pictures on Sunday.

Getting Close!
So we have been working really hard the past couple of weeks doing our best to get the basement done by the end of the month. While I really doubt we will have it fully done by then we are getting much closer. Spent several hours setting up the media room last night, but now the screen, speakers, and projector are all up and ready to go. Our parents have been a huge help through all of this coming down and taking time out of their busy lives and helping out their poor kids. We really appreciate it!
We are trying to go faster so that we will have the room done for when Hailee moves in next weekend. Also we are having a Lord Of The Rings open house on Saturday. We will be showing all three extended versions of the trilogy back to back on Saturday and inviting people to come by and enjoy. Its an open house so people don’t feel like they have to stay for all 3 movies.

Merry Christmas!
Ok so I am a few of days past christmas but thats ok, at least I said it before the month is out. I finally got the pictures up from our vacation last month and I will be working to put some descriptions on each one… or most of them.
We have had a pretty good vacation so far. We have been up to the mountain a few times and had some good runs. Not quite enough snow yet but still good on most of the runs.
Alisha and I both got our gifts for each other online and neither of them showed up in time for Christmas. My gift for her arrived yesterday, it was a Nintendo DS, and she seems quite happy with it. The best part is that she had no clue what she was getting. I, on the other hand, already know what I am getting. Its a beanbag/rocking chair. It sounds crazy, but I think its just crazy enough to be awesome. We have been looking at this company for a while because they make these massive beanbags (couch sized) out of microsuede and they get amazing reviews. This one just seemed too good to pass up. Still workin.
So I have been working hard on the soon to be media room downstairs. I have the room insulated and drywalled, hopefully it will be painted this week. My Dad is also coming this week to see what else he can help with. That bathroom downstairs needs a lot of love still before its usable… in the slightest. I will try and take some pictures tonight so you can see the progress.
Apart from that we got a huge dump of snow over the past few days, the bad part about it is that the temp was right around freezing while it was snowing. Then the temp really dropped making that half melted layer into a perfect sheet of ice on the road. It took me almost 2x as long to get home yesterday because everyone was driving so slow. Amazingly enough I didn’t see any accidents.
Our kids seem to have sorted out their pecking order and have become pretty good friends. They groom each other and play a lot. Renji will play with her until he gets board then he puts his paw over here and pins her there until he is ready to play again. So funny.
